Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the UniControl mobile application (the “App”) handles your information. We built the App to be privacy-friendly: it turns your phone into a remote control for TVs on your local Wi-Fi network, and it does this without collecting personal data or sending your information to us or any third party.

1. Information we collect

The App does not collect, transmit, or sell personal information. It does not ask you to create an account or provide your name, email, or location.

The App stores the following only on your device so the remote works and remembers your TV between sessions:

• TV connection details — the IP address, name, and platform of TVs you connect to.
• Pairing credentials — authentication tokens (Samsung), client keys (LG), or certificates (Android TV / Google TV) generated when you pair with your TV. These are used to reconnect without pairing again.
• App preferences — such as your Vibration setting.

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

2. Device permissions

The App requests only the permissions it needs to discover and control TVs on your local network:

• Network & Wi-Fi access (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE) — used to find TVs on your Wi-Fi network via standard discovery protocols (mDNS/SSDP) and to send remote-control commands to the selected TV. The App communicates on your local network only; it does not use these permissions to send your data to external servers.

3. How your information is used

The locally stored information described above is used solely to:

• Discover available TVs on your network;
• Establish and re-establish a connection to a TV you choose;
• Send the button presses you make to your TV; and
• Remember your preferences.

4. Data sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your information, because we do not collect it. No data is sent to us or to advertising or analytics providers.

5. Third-party services

The App itself contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. When you use certain buttons, your device’s own apps may open outside the App:

• Rate Us opens the Google Play Store listing.
• Support opens your email app to contact us.
• Share opens your device’s share sheet.
• Privacy Policy / Terms open these pages in your browser.

Those services are governed by their own privacy policies.

6. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored locally, you are in full control of it. You can clear it at any time by using “Clear data” in your device’s app settings, or by uninstalling the App, which permanently removes all stored connection details and preferences.

7. Children’s privacy

The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Security

Pairing credentials are stored in the App’s private storage on your device. Connections between the App and your TV occur over your local network. As with any software, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but the App is designed to keep your data on your device.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
